CONTEMPLATIVE PILGRIMAGES
A pilgrimage is a ritual journey with a hallowed purpose.
Every step along the way has meaning.
The pilgrim knows that life-giving challenges will emerge.
A pilgrimage is not a vacation; it is a transformational journey during which significant change takes place.

New insights are given. Deeper understanding is attained. New and old places in the heart are visited. Blessings are received and healing takes place. On return from the pilgrimage, life is seen with different eyes. Nothing will ever be quite the same again.

What is a Contemplative Celtic Christian Pilgrimage?
A 10-day adventure in what the Celtic Christians call "Thin Places", where the veil between heaven and earth is very thin. Where we, like Jacob (Genesis 28: 10-22), and Celtic Saints, exclaim, "Surely the Lord was in this place...."
You will be given guiding questions, scriptures, prayers for your times of solitude, silence, and contemplation. You'll hear the historical and legendary stories of the Celtic Saints who experienced God in these sacred places. We will share stories, delicious gourmet meals, laughter, and even tears as we receive the gifts of new friendships.
What previous Pilgrims said about this Pilgrimage:

"Don and Charlotte's pilgrimages are skillfully and compassionately crafted to help participants find themselves in God in surroundings saturated with hundreds of years of Christian spirituality. This pilgrimage was exactly what I needed to recenter myself on that which matters the most."

"I found this this summer's pilgrimage to Iona and Lindisfarne with Beyond These Shores a significant part of our faithful God refilling me. Our leaders, Don and Charlotte, took care of the details of travel (rooms, food, buses, visits, etc.) in wonderful ways. They created structured pathways for me and others to rest, reflect, seek, and listen more to Jesus. They planned lots of walks in beautiful places. Plenty of quiet to reflect. Key historic lessons. Devotional moments. Planned silence and solitude. And also great times of sparking and collecting our thoughts during the pilgrimage. Over this time, they worked purposefully to help us grow as individual Christians and to bond as a group of widely different people. I think we came together as pilgrims with genuine vulnerability, respect, faith, and love--and with lots of laughter and smiles, too. The trip was a true gift from the Lord to me!
